We sell a book called Setting Standards. It sells
for $14.95 and has picture by picture assembly of a Toploader. Reverse the pictures
for disaasembly. The book also contains various tidbits on ratios, and rebuilding
tips for all standard transmissions.

For TX17876 Please let us know where the current
shifter bolt holes are on the toploader. Short tail toploaders had 3 bolt patterns.
The first is up front near where the tailhousing bolts to the main case. The
second is in the middle and third in front of the rear seal.

I would like to purchase one of your books "Setting
Standards". We do a lot of manual transmissions at our shop and we do run
into a lot of trouble. One of the most popular units now is the M5R2. Another
is the GMC Getrag 5 speed.
Do you have much on these transmissions and do you have after market parts available?

PS Will you folks be at the ATRA convention this year? If so, please give me
your booth number when available.

To Paul Mathewson: The only information on rebuilding
the Getrag GMC 5 speeds and M5R2 are factory shop manuals. You will also need
the tool kits to do these units correctly. We won't be attending the ATRA
convention. The setting standards book covers Muncie,T-10 and Toploader 4 speeds,
the doug nash overdrive and some new T5 tips.

This question might be coming from far off, but
I have a '65 Ford Falcon Futura which has a dying 3 speed on the tree and
a Blue 200 six. I plan on upgrading to a 4 or 5 speed but I'm not sure where
to get imformation about compatibility. I know the old Mustang 4 floor shift
will work but I'd like to know all my options and how involved each could
be. Thanx.

Anyone know the gear ratios for a 73 Mustang
4 speed top loader? I think the first gear is either 2.73 or 2.78. I need to
know the ratios for 2nd and 3rd.

the transmission is a wide or close ratio. This set up is going into '56

Ed Burns, generally a close ratio box has a 31
spline
output shaft, but this is NOT the rule. There are tags
on each box which denotes the type of box.
Go to http:/camalott.com/~brannon/topcode.html
This guy has most of the codes, the cars, engines and
years they relate too.
Lots of your questions will be answered there.

I would like a close ratio cluster and gear set,
preferably secondhand. I will be shipping the parts to Australia, so I don't
want a complete box (costs to much to ship)
If anybody can assist me, please e-mail me at hornet@projectx.com.au Thanks

I need a tail housing for a '72 Mustang small
block toploader. I ruined mine when the rear bushing came loose and allowed
the yoke to rub. I'm assuming it's a short tailshaft, but I'm not
certain of that. If anyone can help, please e-mail me at millermm@lejeune.usmc.mil

The '65 Mustang GT I own has a borg warner
t - 10 that is generating "chicklets" into the lube oil.I would like
to replace the tranny with a toploader(stronger, doesn't jump out of
gear I've heard), but what about replacing the present t-10 with a modern
aluminum housing t-10? Were any of these newer tranny's made for the 289?
Do I have any way of getting significantly different "steps" between
the gears and maybe a numerically higher 1st gear? I'd like to do it right
the first time. Thanks for any info.
I have a Toploader, Bellhousing, Shifter, clutch fork, and yoke that I would
like to sell. The transmission is a HEH-CL S/N 0168494 from a 66 Fairlane 390
GT. The shifter is a stock ford that has been rebuilt with all new bushings
and a new reverse lock-out "T". The bellhousing is a small block ford
that was behind a 289. All is in excellent shape. Jim, lnobles@enetis.net or
