Assembling a JT5 Model RC 5 Speed

The massive 5th gears will require that you machine the tailhousing to clear upper 5th.	Drop on the 5th gear synchro hub. Check that the hub allows for .010 endplay.	The bronze alloy 5th fork and slider must be placed together before sliding them home.
Slide the 5th fork and slider assembly on the rail and 5th hub at the same time. It's tricky.	Next install the .030" thick stop plate and 5th synchro retaining ring.	Sometimes I need to grind the back edge of the 5th hub to get the proper endplay.
Support the 5th fork with a socket and drive in the 5th gear fork roll pin.	Insert the 5th gear oil funnel using a socket. Many uses for sockets on this job!	Install the maindrive needle roller thrust washer with grease on the 3-4 hub.
Drop the maindrive flat roller into the maindrive and grease it.	Install the maindrive thru the front of the case.	New style shift lugs ( shown on right ) are of one piece design then the 2 piece on the left.
